Crunch Corn Launches as Popcorn Kitchen Expands into New Savoury Snack Range
Popcorn Kitchen has announced the launch of a new product line, Crunch Corn, marking what the company describes as a “fresh chapter” in its wider snacking portfolio.
T he development follows the brand’s established focus on mushroom corn, which it says offers a more substantial alternative to conventional butterfly popcorn. With Crunch Corn, the company set out to create a snack defined by a pronounced crunch, ultimately leading to the use of Peruvian Choclo giant corn.
According to the company, the inspiration for the new range emerged following a visit to the Seville Food Fair (Feria de Abril) in 2023. While exploring local food and drink venues, founder Louise Monk encountered seasoned, roasted giant corn kernels that prompted further experimentation.
Choclo corn, which is significantly larger than standard sweetcorn varieties, was identified as a suitable base for bold seasoning and texture-driven snacking. Popcorn Kitchen spent around two years sourcing suppliers and refining flavour profiles before bringing the product to market.
Crunch Corn is positioned as a fibre-rich savoury snack designed to offer an alternative to crisps, nuts and seeds. It is described by the company as HFSS-compliant and packaged in 100g sharing bags.
