Bengal Tiger is an authentic Indian restaurant and bar, located on the heart of the city; in Old Street where is near to London Underground Old Street Station on the Northern line which has other platforms for National Rail’s Northern City Line.  The restaurant is set over two floors, and it’s one of the rare Indian Cuisine Restaurants you can find in City of London that cozy and spacious.  This new restaurant opened its door to neighbor last month and expecting to serve variety of authentic Indian cuisine. One of the most appealing aspects of Bengal Tiger is the sheer breadth of the menu, which allows you to take an edible tour of India, from exotic starters, mouth-watering main courses, side dishes and accompaniments, the Bengal Tiger has it all.

n

From different flavors to different smells to different looks, Indian cuisine is so full of variety there’s always something to look forward to with every meal. Yes, that includes simple Indian dinner recipes.

Once Musician Joe Perry said that “I love Indian food – it’s my favorite cuisine. I love the mixture of spices and the subtle flavors. It’s really erotic; the spices are so sensuous.”  American actress and businesswoman Gwyneth Paltrow said that “When I venture out to eat, I like to go to places with food that I don’t know how to make. So, my favorites  are Japanese and Indian. Indian food has so much layering of flavor, and the dishes go together so harmoniously.”

n

When I was in the States my favorite food used to be Italian and Mexican food. Any kind of pizza, pasta and Britos. Yet since I moved to London last year my new favorite  food is Indian cuisine; Biryani, Lamb, Chicken Tikka, Tandoori Lamb Chops. I eat Indian food like two times a week. It’s so good. Last week one of my friends asked me to visit Bengal Tiger had a dinner up there. I listened him and went there with my friend and sit down for dinner. The smell of jasmine and spice awakened our senses. There is a busy clatter of pots and pans coming from the kitchen. With their cuisine, it’s more about the experience around the preparation and consumption of the food. This makes it one the best for bonding with family and friends.

Chances are your mouth is already watering as the waiter comes over with a menu full of delectable Indian dishes. Time for the ultimate question: what should we eat? What are the best Indian dishes to try? “Don’t worry.  We have 3 new platters perfect for you” said the Restaurant Manager Mr. M.K. Khizer. Mixed platter, Tabdoori platter and Vegetable platter are his signature  starters.   We began with one of Mr. Khizer’s signature starter, Mixed platter with vegetable samosa, paneer tikka, onion bhajee, sheek kebab and chicken tikka. All served on a platter to share.

Taking tandoori to the next level

n

It was time to select Tandoori as a main dish.  Little more than a clay urn, the Tandoor oven has become a pillar of Indian’s Punjabi cuisine, responsible for some of the world’s most popular Indian dishes. We find out how this historic hot pot cooks dishes in minutes, but endures for millennia… From famous flatbreads to chargrilled chicken, many of India’s most iconic dishes were born in the searing heat of a Tandoor oven.

n

So what makes Tandoori cooking so special? With a history that spans the Asian subcontinent and even the Middle East, Tandoors are some of oldest cooking vessels still used in the modern era, and possess a near-holy status in Punjabi cuisine.

n

Mr. Khizer suggested Tandoori Mixed Grill mix of delicious meats, includes Chicken Tikka, Lamb Tikka, Sheek Kebab, tandoori King Prawn and Tandoori Chicken.  It’s served with a fresh green salad and cooling mint yoghurt dip. “The meats were marinated and seasoned with fresh herbs before and whilst cooking in the Tandoori oven for an exquisite fragrance.” said Mr. Khizer.

Enjoy the taste of spices

n

I cannot think of an Indian Cuisine without mild and hot spices. Bengal Tiger has it under the Chef Specials Course. Sikandari Raan, Slow pot roast lamb shank, spiced and seasoned with an aromatic herbs and spices. And Chicken or Lamb Jalfrezy, Strips of chicken or lamb cooked with peppers & tomatoes, garnished with fresh green chilies, lime leaf and coriander. Both of them their own recipes.

n

From Aloo to Zeera

n

Don’t worry if you’re a vegetarian or veggie lover. Bengal Tiger has a light and healthy selection of vegie foods; Sag or Matter Paneer, Indian cheese cooked with spinach or peas. Bombay Aloo or Sag Aloo, A delicacy of cumin tempered potatoes cooked with tomato, onion and a home-made spice mix or spinach. Mushroom Bhajee, Cubed pieces of lamb. marinated in selection of herbs & spices. Served with a salad and Aloo Gobhi, A semi-dry dish of diced mushroom cooked with mixed spices are some of their favorites as vegie foods.

n

Bengal Tiger has three different set menus starting from £22.95 to £34.95 per person, minimum two people.  Set menu consists of starter, main course, vegetable and desserts.

n

To end, there are traditional Indian desserts, including the deeply sweet dish. He also turns out a delightful disc of papadom and chutney tray. It’s nothing really complicated, but after a meal of memorably vivid flavors of Bengal Tiger, it’s the right kind of cool.
